EIT Urban Mobility has launched its Strategic Innovation Open Call for the 2026–2028 period, unlocking €60 million in funding for impactful, scalable solutions that tackle some of the most pressing challenges in urban mobility.
The call is designed to accelerate the development and market uptake of ambitious, problem-driven innovations that directly address the needs of cities, authorities, and mobility providers. The goal? To de-risk development and enable large-scale implementation across Europe.
What Areas Does the Call Focus On?
The call targets five key sectors where Europe has strong innovation potential:
- Urban logistics
- Public transport
- Mobility data management
- Electrification and alternative fuels
- Health and mobility
Future rounds may include more specific topics that respond to emerging opportunities or urgent market failures.
Funding Overview
- Total budget: €60 million (2026–2028)
- First cut-off: €9 million
- Maximum funding per project: €2 million
- EIT funding rate: up to 65%
- Minimum co-funding required: 35%
Who Can Apply?
This is a multi-beneficiary call, meaning proposals must include at least two independent legal entities from two different EU Member States or Horizon Europe-associated countries.
Special cases (e.g., Swiss or Hungarian universities) are detailed in the official Call Manual.

All submissions are evaluated in two stages: an expert review followed by a panel hearing and final portfolio selection.
